Participants will be registered for 3 total courses to earn roughly 7 units of credit utilizing course placement tests, prior credit, and consultation with your four-year advisor. All students will take the College Transitions Seminar (1 credit), and then two (3-credit) courses which fall within the academic pathways provided for the summer.

There are many pathways to every academic major and future career. FSAP allows for exploration across different interest areas via academic pathways-interconnected, balanced, and varied course offerings that support students’ interests and facilitate academic exploration.

For Summer 2025, the FSAP Academic Pathways are:

  • Pre-Health and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Integrations (P-STEM) – provides students exposure to foundational content as well as connected coursework to enhance problem-solving and critical thinking for those interested in pre-health, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and similar content areas.
  • Humanities, Arts, and Social Perspectives (HAS) – provides students opportunities to explore the human experience, society, culture, and creativity, concepts applicable to many academic disciplines and focus areas.
  • Discovery Pathway – provides students opportunities to explore interests and strengths through courses that ignite curiosity and develop skills relevant to any academic major and career.

The College Office takes many factors into account when creating course schedules. You should anticipate taking placement exams and diagnostics in early May to ensure that your pre-college education and potential placements can be fully considered for accurate course registration. Rest assured, any coursework taken during FSAP will be substantive and will satisfy degree requirements at WashU.

*Note: The FSAP Academic Pathways are different from your academic major/college designation, but they may align with a future academic or career interest you want to explore further at WashU.
